Knowing God

When I was a kid, I had a best friend. We spent so much time together people said we were like twins because we became so much alike. This friendship didn't happen overnight. Each of us had to make a move toward the other to show we wanted to be friends. It's like that with our relationship with God!

He has made a move toward a friendship with you, whether you know it or not. He made a "God-sized" hole in the life of everyone and only a relationship with Him can satisfy that need.
Ever wonder what some people are really looking for when they get mixed up with drugs, alcohol, or illicit sex? Or when people are driven to get more and more material possessions and prestige? They are really trying to fill that need God created and which only God can satisfy.

Jesus came to make friendship with God possible. He gave His life in our place to restore us to right relationship with the Father. Now, through faith in Christ, we can be so much more than friends of God, we can be his children and heirs to His kingdom. We will have life forever with Him.

But, how can you expect to spend eternity with a God you do not know? Do you really know God? Do you want to know Him? Right now, if you have the desire to know God, or want to fill that ever empty place inside your heart, then know this - it is God Himself who put that desire in you and He will meet you right where you are!

Prayer: Father, I want to know You. Jesus, I accept Your finished work on the cross. Holy Spirit, please fill this empty place in me and make me whole. AMEN
