A Powerful, Humbling Reminder

If you have read my former blog entry you know I have been stewing about what is going to happen with Mr.Obama and whether he is legally qualified to be President or not. I have been thinking and praying about the economic hard times and the pressures of our culture and those who are suffering because of all this. In the middle of these thoughts, the LORD reminded me that He is still in charge.

Today, in my scripture reading I read some of the questions the LORD asked Isaiah and Job. They are very humbling and reinforce the concept of WHO has the ultimate control of things. Here are some of the questions I read that quickly realigned my thinking and may help you as well.

From Job 38:12 "Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place?" From Isaiah 40:12 "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, or with the breadth of His hand marked off the heavens?"

And talk about knowledge of heavenly things, just look at Isaiah 40:26 "Lift your eyes and look to the heavens; who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls each by name, because of His great strength and power, not one of them is missing." And Job adds in chapter 38:31 "Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion? Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons..."

A resounding answer to all of these questions is, "No! Only You, O LORD, can do all of these mighty things." How graciously and lovingly our God still speaks to us through the Bible. So be encouraged and strengthened. Our God is the Sovereign LORD and He reigns. Notice at the end of the book, God wins, Jesus rules and believers are with Him. Rest in His care. Amen

  1. The Lord knows all and has created all. He has a plan. An ever loving plan so vast we can not comprehend. When we pray to know and do his will are we praying that we will change or is his plan so diverse that it will change? Or is there a compromise in the middle?
    I am so comfused.
